A night in the big city

Mrs B and I have decided to take an overnight break in the city. We thought we would grab the opportunity to sneak away before we move into our house next week.
I thought I would show you a couple of pics that I have snapped over the last couple of weeks. I am building a couple of portfolios at the moment, and there is one pic from each folio below. The first one is from my folio called "Skies of Australia". I snapped this somewhere on the way home from the meeting one night

The next is one from a collection I am slowing putting together simply called "Melbourne".

With the "Melbourne" series, I am trying to capture those parts of the city that most visitors would not normally get to see. The picture above struck me as Mrs B and I were driving out of a carpark building. There was an eerie light coming through the barred windows and the archway at the end had light pouring through it by way of a reflection from a glass building across the street.

It wasn't until I downloaded this picture and had a good look over it that I realised that if you look really closely at the bricks on the right hand side of the pic, the pattern formed by the white marks resemble the famous portrait of Sigmund Freud. Weird.

Hope you like these pictures. I will post up some of the others and some new ones as they materialise.

In the meantime.......

My how time flies!

Yes indeed it has been around about two weeks since I last wrote! We have been flat out, but there have been some good developments.

The biggest development is that we have got a house!! After much scouring of the internet and attending of open homes, we have snagged a goodie. We were quite fortunate in fact. The agent that the Reynolds rent from told them that if we find a house with their company that we like, since the Reynolds are such good tenants, that they would be happy to take us on based on the Reynolds recommendation. Coincidentally a couple of days later a little beauty came up with them. Mrs B went to the open home (it was at 4.30 in the afternoon!) and it was perfect.

It is a one year old 3 bedroom stand alone house with an ensuite, a lovely patio and a single internal access garage. Only $250 per week. What an awesome price. We were so happy. To rent the same house in NZ we would be looking somewhere in the mid to high $300's per week. Will post up some pics after we move on the 23rd.

So of course, having a house means that we need to have furniture! We went shopping on Saturday at Fantastic Furniture and got an awesome deal there. We got a queen bed, a queen mattress, two bedside tables, a 5 drawer tallboy, a 7 piece dining suite, a TV cabinet, two couches, an appliance package of a blender, cake m ixer, hand mixer, toaster, jug and sandwich press all for only.....$2500. We were blown away by the deal. Fantastic Furniture lived up to their name! I guess you know where we will be going when the time comes to set up the spare room.

Well must go. To give you a giggle, check out this pic that someone sent me:

Ha ha!
