A night in the big city

Mrs B and I have decided to take an overnight break in the city. We thought we would grab the opportunity to sneak away before we move into our house next week.
I thought I would show you a couple of pics that I have snapped over the last couple of weeks. I am building a couple of portfolios at the moment, and there is one pic from each folio below. The first one is from my folio called "Skies of Australia". I snapped this somewhere on the way home from the meeting one night

The next is one from a collection I am slowing putting together simply called "Melbourne".

With the "Melbourne" series, I am trying to capture those parts of the city that most visitors would not normally get to see. The picture above struck me as Mrs B and I were driving out of a carpark building. There was an eerie light coming through the barred windows and the archway at the end had light pouring through it by way of a reflection from a glass building across the street.

It wasn't until I downloaded this picture and had a good look over it that I realised that if you look really closely at the bricks on the right hand side of the pic, the pattern formed by the white marks resemble the famous portrait of Sigmund Freud. Weird.

Hope you like these pictures. I will post up some of the others and some new ones as they materialise.

In the meantime.......

My how time flies!

Yes indeed it has been around about two weeks since I last wrote! We have been flat out, but there have been some good developments.

The biggest development is that we have got a house!! After much scouring of the internet and attending of open homes, we have snagged a goodie. We were quite fortunate in fact. The agent that the Reynolds rent from told them that if we find a house with their company that we like, since the Reynolds are such good tenants, that they would be happy to take us on based on the Reynolds recommendation. Coincidentally a couple of days later a little beauty came up with them. Mrs B went to the open home (it was at 4.30 in the afternoon!) and it was perfect.

It is a one year old 3 bedroom stand alone house with an ensuite, a lovely patio and a single internal access garage. Only $250 per week. What an awesome price. We were so happy. To rent the same house in NZ we would be looking somewhere in the mid to high $300's per week. Will post up some pics after we move on the 23rd.

So of course, having a house means that we need to have furniture! We went shopping on Saturday at Fantastic Furniture and got an awesome deal there. We got a queen bed, a queen mattress, two bedside tables, a 5 drawer tallboy, a 7 piece dining suite, a TV cabinet, two couches, an appliance package of a blender, cake m ixer, hand mixer, toaster, jug and sandwich press all for only.....$2500. We were blown away by the deal. Fantastic Furniture lived up to their name! I guess you know where we will be going when the time comes to set up the spare room.

Well must go. To give you a giggle, check out this pic that someone sent me:

Seymour Weekend

Last weekend was simply fabulous. As I mentioned before we all travelled over to Seymour to help the congo there with some of their rural territory. We had a total blast.

We headed off early so that we could meet the group in Seymour at 0900 and after a whole lot of organising, we got on to the territory. The rural territory there was the real mccoy. Not just sheep and cows, but snakes, kangaroos and wallabies. It was a very cool experience indeed. We only got to talk to a few people and they were all nice and kind.

At lunch time we all met up at a local cricket ground and had the hugest feed. Everyone brought enough food to feed an army. The weather was beginning to close in and there was thunderstorms predicted so instead of the planned BBQ in the evening, each of the locals grabbed a mob of Hoppers Crossing-ites and invited them to their house for dinner. The Reynolds, the Knightons and us went to the house of an Aussie brother and his Burmese wife. They were so hospitable. We had Burmese curry, pork steaks, potato salad, prawns chips oh the food! There was so much.

Next day at the meeting there were 50 in attendance. Considering there are 17 people in the congregation, it was a nice boost to the numbers! After the meeting we emptied all of the food from the local McDonalds before heading home. We were absolutley wrecked, but felt the buzz of the brotherhood. Awesome.

We took heaps of pictures there so let me know if you want to have a lookie. They are thinking of making it a regular thing every six months or so, but we will have to wait and see.

Last night was great too. Mrs L is here from NZ for work this week so we met up in the city for dinner. It was so awesome to see her and catch up on all the goss from New Zealand. We wanted to go to Mercadante (where we went a couple of times back in August) but they were closed so we went walkies to find somewhere else. If you know Melbourne, you will have heard of Lygon Street. This is a street that runs for many blocks and is jam packed with restaurants all down both sides. There is food from all over the world. Anything your heart desires. We found a place called Papa Gino's, a nice Italian place. I can't remember what the ladies had, but I had the Calzone - it was so huge that I could not finish it. Yes I know, I am man enough to admit that! The Calzone was stuffed with Parmesan, Mozzarella, Ricotta, egg, bacon and salami. Whoooah!

Anyway, its late and I need my beauty sleep (as if one night would be enough!).

Wassup dudes

Hard to believe it, but another week has gone past. My how time flies when you are having fun!

Work has been good this week, I am doing most of my stuff by myself now and only needing the minimum amount of help from the other guys. It is interesting work that requires extreme attention to detail, but I am loving it. It is nice to have the freedom of being out on the road by myself for most of the day but having the security of an international company behind me. Got to love those regular fortnightly paychecks too. Been a while since we had some of those!

This weekend we are doing something a little special. Tomorrow we are going to a congregation called Seymour who are about 2 hours from here. They have a small congregation there with a huge territory so we are going to help them out. We are leaving about 0700 so that we can meet the FS group at 0900 then we are going to do some rural territory that has not been done for donkeys. In the afternoon there is going to be a massive BBQ for all to attend then on Sunday we will all pile into their KH and boost their numbers for the meeting. Should be a lovely weekend and a great chance to meet some new friends.

Came across this neat picture on icanhascheezburger that I thought you might like...

And the sun shone on

Yeehaa, totally love the weather here. Nice and sunny most days. We have only had two lots of rain since we have been here. The first bout went for about 15 minutes before it disappeared and the other was a thunderstorm that lasted all night. The storm was welcomed by all as it takes the pressure off the water restrictions a little. We liked the storm because it provided an awesome show to watch in the sky. You see, where we are is flat. Dead flat. In fact it is so flat that even where we are, 30 minutes from the city, you can see the city clearly off in the distance. This dead flatness creates a beautiful big sky. And when that sky is lit up by forked lighting, it rocks. Very impressive.

Last weekend it was so lovely and pleasant in the afternoon after the meeting that a group of us went for a trip out to a place called Geelong. It is a neat little beach town about thirty minutes to the south from where we are. Half of Australia had the same idea as us because it was packed, but everyone was in a happy cheerful mood. Kicking footballs around, throwing frisbees, walking the dog, eating ice cream and enjoying the warm.

After we had walked along the waterfront, we went into town and found a restaurant called La Porchetta. This is a great little pizza place that is franchised all around Melbourne. You can get a pizza big enough to feed a family for only eleven bucks. Mint. It was so yummy. This will be another stop for anyone who comes to visit us!

Work went well this week. From the Tuesday I managed to do most of the stuff myself without too much direction from my trainer so that was good. By the end of the week I was pretty confident and so am looking forward to the coming week to see how I go. I really enjoy driving around the city meeting with my clients and getting to know the lay of the land.

The Reynolds are away this weekend so Mrs B and I are home alone. We have just had a lazy weekend. In the morning yesterday we had a look at a rental house, but didn't like it so will have to keep looking. Also did some shopping in the afternoon and then watched a DVD in the evening.

Its now almost three in the afternoon and Mrs B and I have decided to go back to Geelong by ourselves and have fish and chips on the beach and watch the sunset.

Be good.

The first week of work

Well I survived my first week of work! My brain was absolutely fried by Friday evening. It was awash with numbers, addresses, barcodes and procedures. A lot to take in but it is all slowly starting to make sense. They are a really great company to work for and they like to look after their staff.

The weather has been just marvellous since we got here. There has only been a slight bit of rain. They do really need rain here at the moment, it is so dry everywhere. Maybe they could borrow some of the rain from New Zealand!

Tuesday was a public holiday (Melbourne Cup Day of course!) so the Reynolds and us decided to head out for a bit of a drive and a look-see around the place. We drove out to Bacchus Marsh and spent the morning strawberry picking which was great fun. Crouching in the blazing sun going "one for me, one for the basket" was neat. They were $9 per kg and the packs we had held 2 kgs. We managed to fill in two packs. We gorged on them for the rest of the day.

When we had finished strawberry picking we then went to Lederderg Gorge and went for a bushwalk. It was very dry and aris, but nice and cool when we went through patches of trees. Eventually we got to our goal of Grahams Dam where there is a swimming hole. The girls all jumped in for a splash around. For a while we had the place to ourselves and it was lovely. The quiet silence of the bush, the warm heat of the sun and coolness of the water was great. It is a great spot and will be on the list of places to take our friends when they come to visit.

Well, thats all for now, must go and finish my cranberry vodka!

It's offiicial: Melbourne ROCKS

This is my first post from the Lucky Country and what can I say? It is great. We are having so much fun here.

The Reynolds have taken us in and are just wonderful. We have met the congregation and they are awesome. We have been to the markets (again) and they rock. We really, really love it here.

Still hunting for a house at the moment. There are a few around, but there is a lot of competition and as such, the agents don't do much work, you have to do it all yourself. We have been scouring the net trying to find places that are in the territory of Hoppers Crossing. We are sure that something will come up soon. All in good time.

Looking forward to starting work on Monday. I already have my car which is great. My Toyota is not ready yet so I am driving a groovy little Citroen Berlingo. Uncle Don would be proud!

Right better go, sleep in tomorrow then the meeting in the afternoon.

The last day has arrived!

Yup, who would have thought it would have come around so fast! We have had a wonderful final weekend in New Zealand and are now winding down before hitting the hay. Tomorrow will be a big day too, but we are more than ready for it.

It was a weekend of farewells and tears along with good food to send us off. We finished it all off today with a excellent day with D and T and a massive feed at Bronco's this evening.

Tomorow is a new day, a big day. We say BRING IT ON.

Oh GREAT

Oh dear, nobody warned me about this. I knew the spiders in Aussie were big, but THIS???? Check out this news article one of my DELIGHTFUL friends sent me:

http://www.cairns.com.au/article/2008/10/23/11601_local-news.html

That is the stuff nightmares are made of. My nightmares especially!

Had a bit of a drama with our beloved coffee table last night. As you know we had it on TradeMe. The chick who bought our couch said that she was keen on it and that she would come back the night after and pick it up. So we took it off TradeMe (had about 9 people watching it but no bids) and waited for her the following night. When she failed to turn up we texted her to see what was up. Then we got the whole 'boyfriend broke up with me waah waah no money waah waah' drama story. So with only two days left before we have to move out of our house we are stuck with the coffee table!

So we have decided to take a risk. We put it back on TradeMe for $1 reserve and set the auction for the two days. So far it is up to $11.50, hopefully it will go higher! Check it out:

Less than a week now...

Yes indeed, less than a week to go now. We are going through that phase of everything being the 'last' now. Last bookstudy, last Tuesday, last this, last that. It is hard to believe, but this time next week we will be there! Bring it on.

The house is, as you can see, a total shambles. It looks like that tornado that came through Cambridge the other day stopped by personally in each of our rooms and trashed them.

It is all taking shape though. We now have boxes packed, sealed and addressed. We have done a dump run. We have done a clothing bin run. The stuff we are selling on TradeMe is starting to be picked up. The house really is starting to look empty. This Saturday is our last day here then we go to Princess Fiona's house for Saturday / Sunday night. We will hit the road to Auckland on Monday, stay the night there then fly out at some unholy hour of the morning on Tuesday. Tuesday will be a long day, but you gotta do what ya gotta do!

We got a super cheap deal on a hotel in Rotorua last week so ran away there for Saturday night. We probably won't get a chance to have a weekend away for a while so thought we should sneak off.

We had a yummy meal at Relish followed by dessert at The Fat Dog. The hotel had a gorgeously deep bath which we made good use of (we don't have a bath in our house) and with that and some goodies we bought at the supermarket, it was a great time. The picture here was taken from our hotel balcony. Thats Mohutu (?) geyser.

Well, we have lots to do, more items to decide what to do with, and maybe, just maybe, a coffee down at Onyx later...

Not long now!

As you can see from the countdown on the right hand side of the page we now officially have less than two weeks to go before we fly out to Melbourne.

The time is zipping by and we are slowly getting everything done. TradeMe has been a big help in getting rid of the big stuff. We sold the washing machine last night and currently have the car, the bookcase and the piano on there. Later on today I will put up the other set of drawers from our room, the microwave, the stereo and also the cabinet that the TV sits on.

The picture here well illustrates our life in the last couple of weeks - sitting on the floor, surrounded by boxes sorting stuff out. We have been creating 'keep' piles, 'send' piles and 'rubbish' piles. We have thrown out a bazillion photos. We had SO many. A lot of them were double ups so it wasn't a major. We have thinned it out nicely.

Here is the link to our stuff on TradeMe if you want to have a sift through: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?searchtype=SELLER&member=1401482

That's all for now, must dive into some more boxes!

Oh, The Memories!

Well we have had a bit of an interesting afternoon. We have of course been packing and sorting stuff out as you would expect before a big move to another country. We have been going through all of the photos we have accumulated over the years. It has been interesting to say the least!

There were some great memories in there and we had quite a few laughs. Its amazing to look at what we used to call fashion once upon a time!

I wonder how many things that we are wearing now will one day be looked at as 'disgustingly out of date'? Funny how tastes change.

Had a nice morning in the FS today. Managed to catch up with some calls that we have been trying to get for ages. We probably won't get a chance to see them before we go, so it was good to catch up.

We are off out for dinner with Dawn and Laurence this evening. They are taking us to a mystery location to say farewell. They are off to Rarotonga next week and they come back just before we disappear so this might be our last chance to do what we love most (eat and talk).

I know its not a very good, but the picture above is of two puppies that were on a job I did on Friday. The black and white one is a Border Collie and the other one is a Huntaway. You can't see it in the picture, but the Huntaway had HUGE feet. He is going to be a big dog methinks.

Right, better go and make myself pretty for dinner tonight...

Access: GRANTED

Well, all the i's have been dotted and all the t's crossed and Mrs B's visa to Aussie has been granted.

This was the last thing we had to organise and also the most important. We began the process 4 weeks ago and got the call this morning to say that it was all done. The Aussie Consulate have been excellent to deal with and the process was all quite smooth. Quite by chance I had taken the day off today to do some more pre-move organising so we decided to race up to Auckland and get the sticker put into Mrs B's passport. We were more keen to do this than courier it up since our fiasco with Mrs B's license a couple of years ago. We thought it was too much of a risk of it getting lost like the license so hit the road.

Yeehaa!

Photojournalism

You may or may not know that I studied photography when I was at school. It was and still is a passion of mine. I love that you can capture a split second in time and preserve it forever on film.

Many years ago I sold my camera (to help pay for a mountain bike!) and it is a decision I still regret today. I often rue the fact that I sold it and that I have not really been in a position to buy another one since. This is in fact one of my goals once we get to Australia, to buy a camera and start taking pictures again. Black and white still remain a favourite. Somehow black and white potrays a deeper message and I like that you can develop them yourself in your garage.

One of my dreams when I was learning photography at school was to become a photojournalist. However that was not the path my life took so now I take a great deal of interest in the work of other photojournalists. I have two in particular that I like, Zoriah ( http://www.zoriah.com/ ) and James Nachtwey ( http://www.jamesnachtwey.com/ ).

Zoriah has documented many of the worlds trouble spots, mostly based around Europe and recently Iraq. His pictures are SCARY and show the realism of what is going on in those places. We sometimes forget just how good we have it here. He is currently working in Gaza.

James Nachtwey has taken images of the human side of conflict from Africa, Europe, Ireland and Asia. His pictures are terribly moving. He has caught the human pain caused by other humans and presents them in a respectful but powerful way. Last year he was given a TED award ( http://www.ted.com/ ) which granted him one wish. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design and each year, leaders in certain fields are invited to give the talk of their life and are granted one wish. James Nachtwey's wish in 2007 was to get help documenting a tragic problem afflicting areas of India and Asia: a form of Tuberculosis that is becoming resistant to drugs. Now, after a year of documenting this, he and TED have released their project with the aim of raising awareness and getting help to these places.

The thing that makes this all so tragic is that this disease is preventable. So sad. Here is a video released yesterday that has James explaining his vision and motivation and then a sample of the pictures he has taken for the project.

Here are a couple of websites with some awesome photos. Take the time to check them out, some of the pics will take your breath away:

http://www.stuckincustoms.com/ Landscapes and people.

http://www.widelec.org/ Human, animal, landscape and technology.

Speaking of new posts at my favourite websites, Zaproot has a new episode up ( http://www.zaproot.com/ ). Be clean, think green, think Zaproot! (You will know what that means once you have been to the website and watched one of their videos.)

Have a great day no matter what you are doing and where you are.

Sell, sell, sell

No, I'm not talking about the present state of the currency market. I'm talking about our frame of mind. We have so much stuff to get rid off. The garage sale was a huge success and now we have some left over items on TradeMe. Here are the ads if you are interested in checking them out:

There might be something there that catches your eye. Later on down the track we will be selling the rest of the big stuff so if you want to grab something let me know. Here is what will be available:
- Queen bed

- Entertainment unit

- 29 inch TV

- Stereo

- Fridge

- Washing machine

- Set of drawers

- Bookcase

- Microwave

- Fax machine

That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm sure that more will come to mind as soon I have published this!
Looking forward to having Hiroko come and stay this weekend. She is flying up by herself as Mark has to stay and work and will arrive tomorrow night after the meeting. We haven't seem her for ages so it will be great to spend the weekend with her.
I have the PT this weekend and the Speech Quality talk tomorrow so I had better go get my study hat on.
Be good.

Gargage sale success!

Today was the big day of our garage sale. A chance for us to sell some of those little items that aren't worth putting on TradeMe and see if we can make a few extra bucks for the big move to Oz.

Well, we exceeded our expectations and sold just about everything we had out for sale. Right from when we opened at 7am, we had a steady flow of people through. At one point there where about 15 people milling around our tiny little garage foraging for deals. After we added it all up at the end, we made just on $400. Not a bad effort for a mornings work and a nice little bonus to help us get to Oz and make a start.

As a result of today, we have also sold our coffee table, couches, beside tables and probably the fridge. Lois has put her name on the bedside tables and young couple have snapped up the rest of the stuff. The lady was looking through a box of clothes and heard that we were moving to Oz and she said "so does that mean you have house stuff to sell too? Do you have couches? Do you have a coffee table?". Of course we said yes and showed her and her partner the goods and they were stoked. We have swapped details so hopefully that will save us a job just before we go!

Classic moment from today: One guy was looking at a pair of trousers and wanted to see if they fitted. So, rather than asking if there was somewhere he could try them on, he just dropped his daks in the middle of the garage and all the other people! What a legend.

Mrs B and I have booked ourselves a quiet night tonight after all the busyness of the week and garage sale prep. Gonna have the Kimbers for lunch tomorrow as they are moving to Opotiki.

Came across a great selection of student radio stations online the other day. Get all the special goodness here: www.listenlive.co.nz . My favourites are Free FM and BackBeat.

Bang thy head!

Greatest weekend ever!

This past weekend will go down as one of the greatest in history!

As you know Mrs B and I went over to Whangamata for our last hurrah with Grom and Kim. It was a cracker of a weekend. Not only was the weather magic, but we had a nice surprise when Joshie and Colleen turned up on Saturday afternoon. Man it was so great to have everyone altogether in the one place. Sweet.

The weekend was pretty much full of food, wine, spirits, cricket on the beach and doing crosswords in the sun. What a perfect way to say goodbye to our friends. Friends we will miss terribly, but whom we know we will see again soon and pick up right where we left off. That is the mark of true friends, when you can not see each other for a long time and, when you do meet up, its like the time gap never happened.

After we dragged ourselves away on Monday morning, we had to head over to Auckland to do Mrs B's medical check for her Aussie visa. We got mucked around a bit at CityMed which was a bit annoying, but never mind. The stink thing was, we had no choice but to go to Auckland for the check. When you apply for an Aussie visa, you can't go to your GP for the check, you have to go to one of a panel of doctors appointed by the Consulate. Neat. Mrs B said she felt a bit like she was "just another number" to the doc who was trying to process her as quick as possible. Lovely. Oh yeah and for the half an hour we were there, it cost $230. Not a bad hourly rate methinks. I am in the wrong job.

Anyhoo, it has to be done. Once the check has been signed off (we just have to wait two to three days for the blood test results) they will send it to the Consulate and hopefully that will be that. Then we will be free to GTHOOH.

The weekend has started early

Yeah baby, driving away from my last job today was a great feeling. Why? Because I have tomorrow and Monday off work! Time for a long weekend.

It's not all fun and games though as we will be using tomorrow and Monday to sort out some more stuff for moving to Aussie. Tomorrow we will be putting a few things on TradeMe and finishing off sorting the things we are going to put into our garage sale. There is plenty to sell so if you want a bargain, give me a call!

I mentioned the other day that the Consulate have said they are happy with the relationship side of things and all we need is to have a medical check. We have booked the check for Monday. Following the check Mrs B needs to have an x-ray done so we have chosen a place in Auckland where they have everything in one building. There are only a few places that the Consulate will let you go, so we picked the most convenient one!

Tomorrow once we have sorted the garage sale / TradeMe stuff, we are heading over to Whangamata to spend the weekend with Grom and Kim. Can't wait to see them! It will probably be our last chance to see them before we go, but we know that we will see them again soon in Australia. Most of Kim's family is either there or on their way there, so we will see them when they come to visit. I wonder how much hassling they will need to be convinced to come and live over there too...?

Had the opportunity to catch up with Roger P today. Man it was great to see him. We haven't caught up for ages so it was nice to have a chinwag over an eye popping flat white from In Stone here in Cambridge. He has also been in Aussie recently for a holiday and had a great time. His sister lives in Melbourne too, so if he comes over at some stage, we may be able to catch up again. That would be sweet.

Got so many people to catch up with before we go. You know who you are, so be prepared.

Come over to Australia,
It's not gonna fail ya.
Come there for the sun,
Come there for the fun.
Fly over on a plane,
Come and visit Shane.

All my own work. I have missed my true calling.

*Bows emphatically*

So I fell off a roof today...

Yes, it has happened at last. All the other techs have done it and today it was my turn. I fell off a roof. The worst part is it was my own stupid fault!

The clients had a tiled deck and I had my ladder on it going up to the roof. When I stepped off the roof the ladder slipped on the tiles and down I went. Lucky the clients giant ceramic potplant was there to break my fall...

The good news is, nothing was broken (except the crappy 30 year old Marley spouting) and all I have is some cuts and bruises. It cost me $40 to replace the broken bit of spouting, but its better than paying to get a leg reattached.

In other news, we have had a call from the Aussie Consulate to say that the 'relationship' part of Mrs B's application has been sorted and there is just a medical check to be done now. We will have to go to Auckland for the tests, but no sweat, its gotta be done. Actually the Consulate have been great to work with. Easy to get in touch with and quick to respond to any questions we have had. Excellent.

Lovers of me and fine music will know that Weezer is the greatest band that ever lived. I have recently discovered that they have a tonne of stuff on YouTube. So I have been making my way through it. There is some very funny stuff on there in amongst their bits and pieces. Here is one that is guaranteed to make you smile. This is Patrick Wilson, the drummer from the band and his son Charlie. This kid is hilarious:

Love that giggle!

Anyway, better go, forms to fill out, panadol to take and bruised egos to nurse.

Behave.

At last, the end of the week!

Man, I am so over this week! So sick of the rain and the mucky grey clouds on the horizon. Bring on the fine weather I say.

Got a cruisy weeked ahead. Gonna head out in the FS tomorrow morning, chill out in the afternoon and then have dinner with the Pagets. We haven't caught up with them since we left Oz so it will be good to have a chinwag.

As you know, I like to frequent the hilarious pictures and videos at www.failblog.org . The other day they had a classic video on there called "The Sprinkler Rainbow Conspiracy". I tell you, it has been quite some time since I laughed so hysterically. This lady is dead serious, but SO DUMB. You have to see it to believe it! Here it is:

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Have a nice weekend!

Thursday, September 11, 2008

Well, here we are...

Well in case you haven't heard yet, Mrs B and I are moving to Australia. Yup, on the move to the land of kangaroos!

As most of you will know, we went to Melbourne a couple of weeks ago for a bit of a holiday. Well it just so happens that I arranged an interview for while I was there and it turns out that they want to see a bit more of me! We are so happy, we loved Melbourne while we were there and can't wait to get back.

I will be working for a company called DataBank who are in the business of data archiving. This is where big companies and government departments store all their daily computer information onto a special type of storage disk. Databank then collects and stores these disks so that in the event of a disaster of some sort, the clients information is readily available. One of the sweet bonuses of the job (apart from the quarterly bonuses) is that I get a company car. Weehee!

We are off on the 28th of October and I am set to begin work on the 3rd of November. Bring it on baby.

You might have noticed that we have moved to a new website. What is the reason? Pretty much because I am tight and lazy. Since we are moving to Oz, I don't want to have to keep paying for a domain over here when I can access and publish on this blog for free. As I often say, free is the best price. Also, lots of things are automated here so it means less work for me. And I can add in cool gadgets like the slideshow thing at the top right hand side of the page. Sweet.

I hope everyone is well and healthy and that the rain is not depressing you too much (DO NOT ask me how my day was today...).
